The Silver Drift
Downtown cocktail bar in a restored bank vault.
About
About the place
The Silver Drift occupies what was a working bank vault in the 1940s, a two-story building on North Virginia that the current ownership spent eighteen months converting. The bones are still present: the original vault door, the thick masonry walls, the low ceilings in the back room. The cocktail program centers on house syrups, house cordials, and a spirits selection chosen for what each bottle can do in a glass rather than how it performs on a shelf.
The menu is organized around a bartender's-choice format: describe what you are looking for and the bar builds it. There is also a printed list of originals and classics for those who prefer to point. Spirits span Japanese whisky, Oaxacan mezcal, American agricole rum, and Geneva-style gin, among others. The bar team knows the inventory well.
The room seats forty, all seated. No standing service. ID required at the door. Tuesday through Sunday. Reservations recommended for parties of four or more.

From our editors
One of the more considered kitchens in Reno. The menu is tight and seasonal, the sourcing is local where it counts, and the room earns a return visit on its own. Not flashy. Just very good.
